Art Tucker, owner and founder of Artotems Co., a local marketing and publicity firm, along with teammate Kristen Romero, gave an in-depth presentation last Wednesday evening at Tiny’s Restaurant. The two pulled back the curtain at their workshop titled—“Your Book Is Published, Now What?”—a how-to guide for authors who have recently published a book but aren’t sure what to do next. The workshop covered important elements such as what goes on a professional author website, different types of reviews and how to get them, social media presence, and much more. Attendees were able to ask many questions on each topic and get some insight into how they can get their published or upcoming books out into the world.
Poet, shaman, drummer, publisher, friend....however you knew him, Stewart has deeply touched some of us with his generosity. Founder and publisher of Mercury Heartlink Publishing, Stewart was a central figure in the Southwestern poetry scene for three decades. He would want us to carry on and put it forward!
The photo above is Stewart “preaching poetry on the tracks,” with arms outstretched, eyes lifted, to a crowd on the platform in Bernalillo, NM, January 2015. Stewart organized the writing excursion on the Rail Runner, where we took a group of poets to Santa Fe to meet at op.cit. books (when it was located right off the tracks) for a poetry reading. Are you a closet writer? Do you have a flair for brevity? Take our challenge and write a short short story using 30 words (or less).
