Call for Submission: UP FROM THE ASHES: We Rise

Calling all writers from Northern New Mexico!

Las Vegas Lit is seeking submissions for a themed collection titled "Up From the Ashes: We Rise."

​Whether you're reflecting on the aftermath of recent fires and floods or rising from the ashes of lost love, job, career, or illness, we want to hear your stories of resilience and rebirth. Express yourself through essay, short fiction, or poetry and show us your imagination.

The publication date is set for early to mid-April 2023, so submit your work now! There is no reading fee, and all writers whose work is published will receive a copy of the book. Don't miss this opportunity to showcase your writing skills and join us in celebrating the strength of Northern New Mexico.

Submission Guidelines

1. Any original, unpublished essay, short fiction, or poetry, written in English by the submitting author will be accepted for consideration. 
2. Use the theme for creative inspiration, not as a barrier. 
3. Copyright remains the property of the author. 
4. Multiple submissions accepted. 
5. Short Fiction or Essay submissions: 2000 words maximum. 
6. Poetry submissions: five poems with no poem being longer than 32 lines.
7. Entries will be judged anonymously by an independent reader. 
8. Each submission must be accompanied by a cover sheet as the first page of the document, with the writer’s name, complete mailing address, e-mail address, phone number, title of the story, and word count. 
9. File format: Microsoft Word doc or docx, 12-point font, preferably Times Roman, double-spaced.
10. To Submit: Fill out the digital form below and upload your file.
11. Submissions must be received by March 17, 2023, 12 midnight MST. NO EXCEPTIONS.
